LBDF는 ‘사진의 도서관’을 표방하며, 책을 통해 사진 매체의 다양성을 공유하는 공유공간입니다.

LBDF는 사진과 관련된 서적을 비치한 라이브러리 공간과 사진작가들의 작업과 관련된 서적을 연구하는 열람공간을 운영합니다.

LBDF는 개인의 사적 공간에서만 머물렀던 책을 꺼내와 함께보는 공유경제의 개념을 공간에 도입합니다.

LBDF는 종이책의 물질성에 주목합니다. 종이가 비물질로 나아가기 위한 단계별 이주 계획을 수립하여 사진 이미지가 나아갈 방향에 대해 고민합니다.

LBDF is an abbreviation of La Biblioteca de Foto, which has been adapted from Jorge Luis Borges’s La Biblioteca de Babel.

Committing to establishing an actual Library of Photography, LBDF is a common space where the multifaceted medium of photography is explored and shared through the form of books.

LBDF is divided into two parts; a library showcasing visual art publications, including photography, and a platform presenting sets of selected books, each set belonging to, and presenting the most influential artistic references of, different photographic artists.

Behind this space is the idea of a sharing economy, an effort to bring together books that otherwise are kept private.

While LBDF’s main interest lies in the materiality of paper books, it also contemplates a future direction of the photographic image by devising a sequential migrating plan for the possible transition of the photographic medium from paper to the immaterial.
